Washington:

A Southwest Airways aircraft was hit by gunfire whereas taking off from an airport within the US metropolis of Dallas on Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration stated.

“Whereas taxiing for takeoff at Dallas Love Subject Airport, Southwest Airways Flight 2494 was reportedly struck by gunfire close to the cockpit,” a press release on the FAA’s web site stated. 

“The Boeing 737-800 returned to the gate, the place passengers deplaned.”

The incident occurred at round 8:30 pm Friday (0230 GMT Saturday), with the flight headed from Dallas, Texas, to Indianapolis, Indiana.

There have been no reported accidents, in response to a press release from Dallas Love Subject Airport on social media platform X.
